Specialised services and clinics

Our multidisciplinary diabetes team, comprised of endocrinologists, diabetes nurses, and dietitians, work in partnership with individuals living with diabetes and their general practitioners to deliver high-quality and personalised care. We aim to engage and educate people with diabetes, empowering them to confidently and competently self-manage their diabetes.

We are experienced with the latest diabetes technology, including:

  • insulin pumps

  • smart insulin pens and other digital tools.

Our team provide hands-on training and ongoing support to help people integrate diabetes technology into daily life, enabling them to manage their condition more effectively and independently.

TQEH Diabetes Centre, a dedicated outpatient clinic space for people with diabetes, is located onsite at the hospital and is home to TQEH Diabetes Service. A small number of diabetes nurse appointments are conducted at Sefton Park Primary Health Service.

The Bone Density Service provides bone mineral density (DEXA) scans for adults who have been referred by their doctor to assess bone health and risk of fractures.

Our trained technicians ensure a comfortable and efficient scanning experience, and our endocrinologists provide a tailored report for the referring doctor to support ongoing care.

The CALHN Metabolic and Bariatric Service (CMBC) is a specialised, integrated weight management service operating across both the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and TQEH.

Our multidisciplinary team includes endocrinologists, surgeons, nurses, and dietitians who work closely with people living with obesity and their general practitioners.

We provide comprehensive assessments and personalised care plans to support healthy weight management and overall wellbeing. Treatment typically begins with lifestyle, nutritional and medical interventions, managing co-morbidities where needed. Bariatric surgery is considered when clinically appropriate.
